Family members, traditional rulers, political leaders, associates and well-wishers are expected to converge on Nneoyi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State today for the final rites of passage of a revered royal father HRM Eze Sir George Eneogweh Nwachukwu, KSC, JP, whose life and legacy left a lasting impact on his community and beyond.
The funeral ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries from across Abia State and neighbouring states as they gather to honour the memory of a respected traditional leader remembered for his commitment to peace, community development and the preservation of cultural values.
Among those expected to join the family in paying their respects is renowned Heavy Weight Champion and philanthropist, Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor “De Ultimate Commander” (Ikenga Gburugburu of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom), who is also president of United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP) Forum, alongside other notable personalities from different walks of life.
The late royal father is widely remembered for his dedication to the welfare of his people and his efforts in promoting unity, harmony and development within his domain. Community members describe him as a leader who devoted his life to service and used his position to strengthen communal bonds and uphold cherished traditions.
Many believe his greatest legacy lies not only in his contributions to his community but also in the values he instilled in his children and those who came under his guidance.
One of his sons, Hon. Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is widely regarded as a reflection of the principles of service, leadership and commitment to society for which the late royal father was known.
Friends, associates and community leaders say the deceased’s influence can be seen in the accomplishments of his children and the many lives he positively impacted through mentorship, counsel and exemplary leadership.
As preparations reach their final stage, tributes continue to pour in from across the state, with many describing the late royal father as a custodian of tradition, a bridge-builder and a respected elder whose contributions to community development and the progress of Abia State will not be forgotten.
Directions to the Venue
Visitors travelling from Port Harcourt or Aba should proceed to Osisioma Junction and continue to Aro Ngwa Junction, located just before the Army checkpoint, where funeral signposts have been erected. Motorists are advised to turn left into the newly tarred road leading to Ekearo T-Junction on the old Aba–Owerri Road, then take a right turn to the event venue at Nneoyi.
Guests travelling from Enugu or Umuahia should drive to Umuikaa Junction and continue past the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office along the expressway to Amavo Tank. A funeral banner positioned on the median of the expressway marks the route. Motorists should take the road on the right, connect to the old Aba–Owerri Road at Ugwu Nneoyi, turn left and continue to the venue.
Those coming from Owerri should proceed to Owerrinta Town. After passing the Nigerian Navy School, motorists should stop at Ugba Junction and take the tarred road on the right, following the route through Nneoyi to the event venue.
